The following list is the result of research into the recording career of ET. It may or may not be a complete listing. For a definitive look at ET's life and recording career, from his birth February 9, 1914 to his death September 6, 1984 and the legacy he left to country music, I recommend Ronnie Pugh's Ernest Tubb, The Texas Troubadour, ISBN 0-8223-1859-8. The result of Mr. Pugh's extensive research into the life of Ernest Tubb was the source for much of this information. Without his efforts, this information may have been lost forever.

This work follows ET's recording career from his first recording in October 1936, The Passing of Jimmy Rogers (MP3 - long download) through ET's career peak in the 50's and 60's with the Texas Troubadours. With members like Billy Byrd, Buddy Emmons, Grady Martin, Buddy Charleton, Cal Smith, Floyd Cramer, Grant Shofner, Steve Chapman, and many others that are listed on the following pages, the Texas Troubadours were arguably the greatest country band ever. The listing concludes with ET's last recording in August 1982, Leave Them Boys Alone (MP3 - long download) with Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams, Jr.

This list is in chronological order with the date and place recorded, band members, recording number, song title, accompaniment, and writer. If you have any questions, comments, or information to share, please email me.

For the true country music fan Bear Family Records has produced a set of ETs recordings through 1975, including demos and never released songs, along with many other great country music collections.
